A buyer’s experience
“When we made the offer there were a few other offers, but John told the listing agent that he was going to write our loan and that it had already been reviewed by his underwriter. Our offer stood out because of the communication between John and the listing agent. A couple of days later I found out that our offer was accepted. I was so happy, because there were other offers and they chose mine.”

Put the review in context
Lenders do treat the Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter (DU) Findings as a strong basis for making an offer. DU Findings are not final loan approval or a commitment to lend. The lender still verifies the file, property, and remaining conditions.
The applicable process depends on the loan type. A past buyer’s experience does not establish what a new file qualifies for or guarantee that a seller will accept an offer.
